We all know how powerful a blog can be for attracting customers, but how about when we want to recruit new workers? Is it possible to use our blogs to attract the pick of the bunch when it comes to finding talent? We think it is, and, furthermore, we think that it is something that everyone should be doing more frequently.
Here are just a few of our favourite ways to incorporate a good recruitment strategy into your blog:
Feature existing employees
Everyone likes to get a peak behind the curtain, and featuring existing employees in your blog is a great way to afford prospective new recruits a glimpse behind the scenes of your company. Handing over the blog post reins to a different employee each month will give anyone interested in your business an insight into what it’s like to work for your company.
Be the voice your candidates want to hear
If you think that your company is a great place to work don’t be shy about telling the world why. People like specifics and the more that you can point out, the better your ability to attract others into your business will be. Write in a positive voice, but do try to avoid making false or misleading statements. Be straight, be genuine, and the rest will follow.
Write about upcoming opportunities
Posting jobs on a recruiter’s website or in a trade magazine is the obvious route to follow when you want to advertise a position, but you should go the extra mile and fully explain the role in your blog too. Write it up in a different way than a standard job post would appear; emphasise the benefits of the position and lay out explicitly what the position means to the business as a whole. Pointing out what the role means to the company as well as to the employee will give prospective candidates a sense of worth and show them just how valuable they can be to your organisation.
Talk about what the future holds for your company
Lay out your plans for the future in your blog posts and talk about projects that are in the pipeline (ones that you can talk about, obviously). Showing potential employees that you are always looking toward the future can be a very attractive lure to those with drive and ambition, i.e. the kind of people you want in your business!
Highlight job progression
Another great way to attract the very best people to your company is to make prospective employees aware of the potential for promotion within your business. By showing your blog readers that you are a company that encourages internal promotion you will be more likely to engage a higher calibre of candidates to the role that you are currently advertising for.
Engage them with trust
Let your candidates know that your company is one that can be trusted and that you trust your employees in return. If you run HR software that allows your staff to book their own holidays, or if you have any information that shows how willing you are to empower your employees, be sure to let them know in your next post.
Using your blog to attract new recruits can be extremely effective, and the above tips will set you on your way to filling your position with exactly the right person for the job. Don’t stop here, though. Get creative and innovative with the methods you use and you’ll find a better class of candidate walking through your interview room door.
